Yamaha's Struggles Frustrate MotoGP Champion Alex Rins
Six-time MotoGP race winner Alex Rins is feeling frustrated and powerless as Yamaha struggles to keep up with the front-runners in recent years. The Spaniard, who joined Yamaha in 2024 after a challenging season with LCR Honda, has yet to secure a podium finish, with his best result being a seventh place at the Australian Grand Prix.
Despite his struggles, Rins remains confident in his abilities and those of his teammates, Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira. He believes that none of them have forgotten how to ride, but the team's performance has been inconsistent.
During the Valencia Grand Prix weekend, Rins expressed his frustration, stating, 'It's difficult to accept how things are going for us. On the bike, I feel quite powerless, unable to do what I want.'
Rins's Yamaha troubles are particularly evident when compared to his factory teammate, Fabio Quartararo, who achieved a grand prix podium and two sprint rostrums in 2025. Quartararo's dominance has been a source of concern for Yamaha fans.
Yamaha has officially retired its inline-four engine and will introduce a new V4 engine next season. However, the team has warned that the first half of the campaign will focus on developing the package rather than achieving results.
This shift in strategy may provide Rins and his teammates with an opportunity to improve and regain their competitive edge. As Yamaha navigates this transition, Rins's determination to succeed remains unwavering.
