Get ready, luxury lovers! The ultra-luxurious Seabourn Ovation is gracing Portland Port with its presence this spring, promising an experience unlike any other. This isn't just any cruise ship; it's a floating palace, and its arrival is a significant event for the port.
The Seabourn Ovation, renowned as one of the most opulent vessels globally, is scheduled to visit Portland on two specific dates in April and May: Thursday, April 30, and Sunday, May 3. The ship, celebrated for its unique character and charm, will also return later in the summer, specifically on Sunday, June 28.
Seabourn, the cruise line behind this marvel, is synonymous with unparalleled pampering. Think of it as a country club on the sea, offering top-tier dining and a relaxed atmosphere where every guest feels like royalty.
The Ovation, which can accommodate up to 604 guests, made its debut in 2018 with an inaugural cruise from Valletta, Malta. It's worth noting that the ship was christened by musical theatre star Elaine Paige, adding a touch of glamour to its launch.
Interestingly, this isn't the Ovation's first time in Portland. It previously visited the port in September 2018, shortly after its launch.
The upcoming visits on April 30 and May 3 are part of a broader 29-night 'Spain, France & British Isles Explorer' cruise. This voyage begins in Lisbon, Portugal, and includes stops in northern Spain, French ports, Plymouth, Portland, Portsmouth, and Dover. The ship then returns to Portland before heading to Cork, Ireland; Fishguard, Wales; Douglas on the Isle of Man; Scotland; Belfast, Northern Ireland; and finally, back to Scotland before concluding in Dover.
But here's where it gets interesting: The Seabourn Ovation offers unique dining experiences. It features a sushi restaurant, first introduced on its sister ship, Encore, and a spacious Mediterranean restaurant called Solis. It was also the first to introduce Seabourn's alfresco dining concept, Earth & Ocean at The Patio, as well as the line's gelato program.
Portland Port is gearing up for another busy cruise season, especially after hosting a record-breaking 64 ship visits in 2025. This year, the port is celebrating its 30th anniversary, adding another layer of significance to the Ovation's visit.
